Pfc Richard Munjoy attended Woodland High School and worked at the Royal Coach Co. before he enlisted in Kalamazoo, Michigan on 2 January 1943. He was sent overseas the latter part of July in the same year. He was with an ordinance department unit when he was transferred to the infantry in December 1944.
