Sgt Thomas R. Hoffman enlisted on 15 October 1940 in Sparta, Wisconsin. He was sent overseas in February 1944 and landed in France on 13 June 1944.He had never seen his eight-months-old son Dickie Tom.
He was awarded a Bronze Star for meritorious service as a communications man from 7 August to 11 August 1944.
