Pfc William F. Cooper graduated from Cambridge Rindge Technical School. He was a student at Northeastern University in the College of Engineering with the Class of 1946.

He joined the U.S Army Reserve in Boston, Massachusetts on 14 October 1942.

Pfc Cooper was killed by shell fragments in both legs and right hip.

He was initially buried at the Temporary American Cemetery of Breuna #1, Germany. After being disinterred, his remains were evacuated to Margraten Cemetery and reburied in a temporary grave on 12 July 1945. After the cemetery was given a permanent status, he was given his final resting place on 21 December 1948.
